Accessible Therapy

Dean Whiteley approached me in 2021 to design a website that would expand his client range. Dean, a life coach, was relying on social media channels such as Facebook to gain clients but this did not provide him with access to the business sector, his target audience. Before I built his website, Dean had no reliable or professional space for people to contact him and no presence on Google.

Dean already had an old and unused website, so the content was created – I simply maximised its potential and showcased Dean’s business in a more effective way.

Designing for a medical professional was a new venture for me. I conducted hours of independent research to better understand what clients are looking for and what types of design already exist in this area. As a result, I employed a ‘medical-friendly’ colour scheme, including lots of greens, blues and white spaces which are known to be associated with trust, professionalism and intelligence. It was also important to Dean that the website was friendly and easy to access, similarly to his approach to coaching.

WordPress for Beginners

A key requirement for Dean was to be able to edit the website himself, without having to learn code. I made the website as friendly to a novice as possible.

In order to make this website a success for Dean, I created the website using WordPress and its most accessible elements. As demonstrated on my other pages, I have a good understanding of WordPress so this was something I was comfortable doing. This also made the teaching and handover process much easier and enjoyable for the both of us.
